WELCOME
My Parkinson’s Nurse is an independent nurse-led online service providing specialist consultations, education, and training for people living with Parkinson’s, their families, and healthcare professionals.
Founded in 2025 by Emma Edwards, a highly experienced Community Parkinson’s Specialist Nurse, the service bridges the gap in support following diagnosis and throughout the Parkinson’s journey. This is a service to compliment your NHS care should you need it.
The service combines 1-to-1 patient consultations, group education, and professional training, delivered virtually to ensure accessibility across the UK and beyond. The mission is simple: to ensure no one faces Parkinson’s unsupported, uninformed, or alone.
Who will be your Parkinson's nurse?
My name is Emma Edwards
About Me
I qualified as a Mental Health Nurse in 1997 after completing my training at St. Lawrence’s Hospital in Cornwall. Following a variety of roles in psychiatric nursing, I joined the NHS Cornwall Parkinson’s Specialist Nurse team in 2010, where I found my passion for supporting people living with Parkinson’s.
Today, I continue my work as a Community Parkinson’s Specialist Nurse in the NHS, now covering Plymouth and West Devon.
In 2025, I founded 'My Parkinson’s Nurse' in response to the many stories I heard from people newly diagnosed with Parkinson’s who felt unsupported, uninformed, and alone. My goal is to ensure that everyone diagnosed with Parkinson’s has access to the guidance, education, and ongoing support they deserve.
Alongside my NHS role, I am the Deputy CEO of SpotlightYOPD, a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting people diagnosed with Young Onset Parkinson’s Disease (YOPD). I also serve as Deputy Chair of the Royal College of Nursing’s Neuroscience Nursing Forum.
I am a member of the Faculty at the Neurology Academy, where I teach on the Advanced Parkinson’s Masterclass. I regularly collaborate with Parkinson’s UK on national projects, speaking events such as Par-Con, specialist forums, and the Research Participation Committee. My work also extends to influencing the national provision of Parkinson’s services.
In 2024, I completed a Chief Nurse Research Fellowship, and I have been an Independent Nurse Prescriber for over a decade.
When I'm not working, I can usually be found restoring my 1875 cottage, walking my Westie along the Cornish beaches with my family, or attempting (with varying success) to grow vegetables in my garden.
